There were two men, both seriously ill and are being treated in a hospital room. One of them suffered from an illness that required sitting in bed for an hour each afternoon to clear fluid from his lungs. Incidentally, the bed was right by the window the only one in the room. While the other man could not do anything, he could only lie straight on the bed.
Every day they are conversing for hours. They talked about his wife and family, home, work, their involvement in the army, and the places they've visited during the holidays.
Every afternoon, when the man whose bed was near the window are allowed to sit down, he tells of what it looks outside the window to his roommate. For an hour of that, the second man was so happy and excited imagining how vast and beautiful all activities and beautiful colors that are out there.
"Outside the window, looks a garden with a beautiful pond. Ducks and swans swimming-pool is gorgeous, while the children play with the boats toys. The first man was telling a state outside the window with the details, while another man who was lying close my eyes to imagine all the beauty of the scene. Feelings become calmer, in living their daily life in the hospital.
His spirit becomes stronger, increases self-confidence. One evening the other, a man sitting near the window tells the story of a carnival parade passing by. So it went on, day by day. And, one week passed. One morning, the nurse came in with a basin of warm water for bathing. He found was a man lying near the window had died peacefully in his sleep. The nurse was saddened and called another nurse to move them to the mortuary. Then the second man asked the nurse so she could be moved to the bed near the window. The nurse was happy to obey his will and to prepare everything. When everything is finished, she left him alone in the room.
Slowly and in pain, the man forced himself to get up. He wanted to see the beauty of the outside world through the window. How glad he was, when he was finally able to see yourself and enjoy all the beauty of it. His heart was tense, he slowly stuck his head into the window beside his bed. What he saw? Apparently, the window overlooking a WALL EMPTY !!
He cried the nurse and ask what makes a male friend who had died had been recalled as if seeing all the sights are magnificent behind the window. The nurse responded that the man actually was a blind man who can not even see the wall though.
"Maybe he wants to give the spirit of life," the nurse said.
